US To Maintain Large Military Presence In Kuwait

Minnesota National Guardsmen conduct a ruck march in Kuwait January 2012.

The US military will leave about 13,000 troops in Kuwait to act as a hedge on a region undergoing great change.  With the recent end of US combat operations in Iraq, the Arab spring, and a belligerent Iran the middle east is a region in transition.  Add in nearly half of the world’s proven oil reserves and one can begin to see that the need for a significant American military presence.  Hopefully they won’t be called upon anytime soon.

Plan would keep 13,500 troops in Kuwait
